THE SWEETEST COMEBACK:
MENCHIES FROZEN YOGURT
There’s a spot in town where the frozen yogurt is cold, but the welcome is always warm.
You might’ve driven past it before—right on Boardman Poland Road. Maybe you’ve even popped in on a sunny day. But what you might not know is the story behind it… and why it’s unlike any other Menchie’s out there.
This one? It’s personal.
When the shop shut down a while back, it left more than an empty space. It left a gap in the hearts of people who worked there and the community that loved it. One of those people was Brittany—a hardworking, passionate young woman who had been part of the team. When she lost her job, her whole family felt it.
Instead of walking away, they leaned in. Karen (her mom) and Patrick (her dad) decided: Let’s bring it back.
Not just the yogurt machines.
The magic.
Now, Brittany is the manager. Her sister Kim is the assistant manager. Her brother Justin is the supervisor. And together, with their parents, they’ve created something that’s more than just a sweet treat stop.
They’ve created a little community.
From the friendly smiles to the way they know their regulars by name, this Menchie’s feels like family. Whether it’s your first time or your fiftieth, you’re greeted with the kind of joy that sticks with you longer than your last bite of Dole Pineapple Sorbet (which, by the way, is their personal favorite!).
And this August, they’re giving back with a Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser—so every visit means even more.
So if you’ve been craving something feel-good lately, this is your sign. Take a detour. Bring a friend. Taste the comeback.

Cookie Goals: Achieved 🍪✨
We’re still dreaming about the cookies from Skin Solution MedSpa’s Open House yesterday. Each little handcrafted cookie was almost too adorable to eat — almost — lol
We love a Pinterest-worthy dessert. There is something so satisfying about a tiny treat that looks like perfection. It was the full sensory experience. My personal favorite was the Summer Santa (since it was a Christmas in July Open House). Super cute and on-theme with his Hawaiian flower Santa cap and sunglasses.
And the flavor was chef’s kiss. Like Youngstown cookie table level—buttery, melt-in-your-mouth and just the right amount of sweetness. Luckily, the guests could take an extra one home. You don’t have to tell ME twice lol
If you’re planning an event and want something that wows, these cookies are the move. 10/10—would eat again. And again. And again. 🍪💕
If you're ever looking for cookies that look as good as they taste,
she’s your girl.

Get to the Amp!
by G.M. Gotti
Nestled in the heart of a beautifully revitalized downtown Warren is one of our area’s hidden gems: River Rock at the Amp. Located on the banks of the Mahoning River and surrounded by tall trees, it is a wonderful place to enjoy a summer evening of music and entertainment. The amphitheater is surrounded by plenty of places to enjoy a meal or a beverage before the gates open. There is CharBenay's winery just around the bend alongside the river where you can enjoy a glass of wine on the terrace overlooking the water, the famous Sunrise Inn where you can experience the pizza everyone in Warren raves about (along with many other delicious dishes), or you can have your favorite latte and a slice of cheesecake at the Mocha House.
The Amp is an amazing facility. It has many food vendors once you’re inside for hungry music lovers. There is deep dish pizza, gyros, burgers, sausage sandwiches, and pretty much whatever you could want to eat. There are several beverage tents offering an assortment of beers and other beverages for you to enjoy as you watch the show. There are clean restrooms with running water, so you don’t have to bother with porta pots. You can bring your own chair and sit in the stands that were built as level rows instead of just being a sloped hillside. The sound system and lighting are excellent, so each concert is a quality experience.
River Rock at the Amp provides a different schedule of performers each year. Most of these are tribute bands, and they all do a great job of emulating the bands whose hits they bring to the summer nights in Warren. Cleveland’s Wish you Were Here is a Pink Floyd tribute that brings an amazing light show to accentuate their spot-on Floyd sound. Queen Nation is a professional band that tours nationally, and it the closest thing you will find to experiencing Queen with Freddy out front. There are many others paying tribute to bands such as the Eagles and ELO with the Amp bringing back crowd favorites while incorporating new acts each year.
Gates open at 5pm with the opening act usually beginning shortly afterwards. The headline acts usually go on around 8:30. The facility is handicap-accessible and provides accommodations to ensure everyone has a great experience. So, head down to the Amp and see what you’ve been missing! It’s an affordable fun night for the entire family, and it is right here in your backyard.
