🎶 NFNJ: Youngstown’s Next-Gen Dance Machine Storms Oktoberfest
From the outside, they look like kids barely old enough to order a beer. But the 6 to 8-piece collective known as No Funk No Justice (NFNJ) has been burning up Youngstown stages since 2018, and they’ve earned their reputation the old-fashioned way—through sweat, stamina, and a setlist that doesn’t let up.
Now in their early twenties, the bandmates have already spent the last five years performing professionally, rocking bars and restaurants to amphitheaters and weddings. Their catalog—more than 100 songs deep—reads like a time capsule of America’s dance floor obsessions: disco, funk, hip-hop, rock, pop, and the kind of modern hits that make even the most stubborn wallflower move.
What sets them apart isn’t just the breadth of their playlist but the firepower behind it. A No Funk No Justice gig is part concert, part house party, part light show spectacle. By the time the amps cool, audiences of all ages (yeah we’re talking grandmas to the grandkids) are left sweaty, smiling, and a little hoarse from singing along.
This weekend, NFNJ brings that energy to the patio stage, headlining Magic Tree’s Oktoberfest from 4pm-7pm. Expect frosty steins, guilty-pleasure singalongs, and the kind of dance floor fun that will have you calling off Monday.
👉 Don’t just hear about it from your cool friends—be there, raise a glass, and see why NFNJ has become Youngstown’s most talked-about live band.
Oktoberfest at Magic Tree on Saturday (4-7pm) is the
only place you’ll want to be.
YoTown History
🍎 Oktoberfesting in
Boardman Since 1975
Oktoberfest started back in 1810 in Munich, Germany, as a giant wedding party for the Crown Prince of Bavaria and his princess bride. What began as a one-time celebration of food, music, and beer grew into one of the biggest festivals in the world. OKTOBERFEST!!!

Here in Ohio, the tradition has strong roots thanks to the state’s big German heritage. Cincinnati and Columbus launched their Oktoberfests in the 1960s and 70s, and they’ve grown into some of the largest in the country.
Closer to home, Youngstown joined the fun too. The Boardman Rotary Oktoberfest first kicked off in 1975, and it’s been a fall favorite ever since. Held in Boardman Township Park, it combines live music, local food, and plenty of family fun. Today, it’s one of the Mahoning Valley’s best-loved autumn traditions.
And this year, the Oktoberfest spirit is spilling over to Magic Tree Pub & Eatery with their first-ever celebration—THREE weekends packed with live music, vendors, crafts, and all the fall festivities you could want. 🎉
This Saturday at Magic Tree’s Oktoberfest (Week 2):
🎶 1 PM – Alexandra & Emelina Sol, Acoustic Duo
🎶 4-7 PM – No Funk No Justice
🎶 8 PM – AC & the Heat
Raise a stein, grab a pretzel, and settle in for a new Boardman tradition that’s already making its mark. Magic Tree’s Oktoberfest is here to give you another reason to love fall in the Valley.
Finally, Answers for the Symptoms
No One Talks About.
For so many women, issues like incontinence, constipation, pelvic pain, or difficulty after childbirth become something they quietly put up with. Maybe you’ve been told it’s “just part of being a mom,” or that menopause simply comes with discomfort. But the truth is—you don’t have to suffer in silence.
That’s where Dr. Riana Taktikos and Restore Pelvic Health and Wellness in Cortland, Ohio come in.
Riana understands firsthand how life-changing pelvic health can be. After having four children—each delivered in a different way—she realized how critical pelvic floor health is, not just for recovery after childbirth, but for long-term wellness. Two years ago, she built Restore Pelvic Health and Wellness to help women strengthen their core, rebalance their hormones, and take back control of their bodies.
Common But Overlooked Struggles
Many women quietly deal with:
Bladder leaks when laughing, coughing, or exercising
Constipation and digestive discomfort
Pain during intimacy
Postpartum weakness or recovery challenges
Perimenopause and menopause symptoms like hormone imbalance
These struggles are common—you don’t have to keep pushing through them alone.
A Place for Answers and Relief
At Restore, patients get something rare in healthcare: a full hour of personalized attention. Riana listens, creates a plan, and uses nutrition, exercise, and pelvic floor therapy to restore strength and confidence.
The space itself is designed to feel comforting and relaxing—a place where women can finally feel heard, understood, and supported.
Why Women Choose Restore
They have a specialized focus on women’s health at every stage—pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause, menopause and more.
They also use a whole-body approach, including nutrition and hormone balance, because you’re a complete person, not just a symptom.
It is a safe space to talk openly about issues many women feel too embarrassed to bring up elsewhere.
Dr. Riana’s personal favorite part of the work? Helping women prepare for pregnancy and delivery, making labor smoother and recovery faster.
The Message Women Need to Hear
If you’ve been struggling with symptoms and thought they were just part of life—you’re not alone. And more importantly, you don’t have to keep living with them. Restore Pelvic Health and Wellness exists to give women answers, relief, and the chance to feel at home in their bodies again.

Some people bring light to their community
For most, their lights shine for decades before they slowly dim and finally fade away. This is the natural order of things; the way we expect things to play out. The grandchildren grow up loving their grandparents up to the day they must say goodbye as they pass away. They grow up and reach middle age where they eventually must bury their parents. Then they grow old themselves and love their own grandchildren until their own time comes. We mourn those who came before us, but it is understood that this time must come.
But it jars us when those who came after us are taken too soon. Their light shines far too briefly, glowing brightly enough to make those around them smile and to feel the ache of loss when they are gone. This is the case with Kevin Baird of East Palestine who we lost far too soon to undiagnosed diabetes at the age of 21. He was a lover of the beautiful things that make this world worth getting up for. His love of music led him to becoming the bass player for the band Slumber. He loved the beauty of the outdoors, so hunting and fishing were among his favorite hobbies. He married his best friend and high school sweetheart, Rebecca, not even a year ago. His wit and humor brought smiles and laughter to everyone around him.
Death might be a time for mourning, but it is also a time for remembering. It is a time for celebrating the life that was, and far too often we lose sight of that part as we grieve. Those who are left behind are left not only with their pain, but also with unexpected financial burdens to bear. That is why the Kevin Baird Memorial Music Festival will be held this Saturday, September 20th at Shaker Woods in Columbiana, Ohio. The festival features many different local bands and includes prize raffles. Gates open at 10am and the event runs all day until 8pm. All proceeds go to help Kevin’s young widow, and tickets are only $25.
It is a heart-wrenching thing to lose a child. To lose a spouse so soon and so young leaves one in a world that no longer makes sense to them. As Rebecca moves forward with her life, Kevin is still alive in her heart and in the hearts of all who loved him. So, if you love music and believe that a community can still make a difference, head on down to the festival this Saturday and enjoy a day of music as Kevin’s light shines on in those he left behind.

Hola Delicioso….
Anejo in Howland
If it seems that you cannot drive more than a mile or two without seeing a Mexican restaurant these days, it is because Ohioans absolutely love Mexican food. One of the greatest parts of our country is that each immigrant brings his or her special spice to the great melting pot of America and makes the collective soup more flavorful and interesting. My wife and I enjoy Mexican food to the point of being a bit of “Mexican food snobs,” so we are always trying new places. There are plenty of them, but we might have found the best of them all when we tried Anejo.
Anejo is located in a plaza in Howland directly across from Up a Creek just off the OH-82 bypass. The decor is beautiful; the restaurant is spacious and features a wide- open outdoor dining area that includes an outdoor bar. You can sit and watch football or enjoy conversation with friends as the servers provide all the chips and salsa you could want. The place is always exceptionally clean and pleasant, providing hungry visitors with a rewarding dining experience as they enjoy the excellent offerings Anejo provides.
The menu at Anejo is nothing short of incredible. It is listed on their website, so I will not go into all of it here, but everything is just incredible. My wife and I usually split an entrée when we go out to eat, but we always each get our own and share when we visit Anejo. If you are a fan of guacamole, you owe it to yourself to experience the Guacamole Mexicano, which is almost a meal unto itself. If you enjoy a high-quality margarita, Anejo will not let you down. Their outstanding bartenders will meticulously craft your drink with excellence, and you will find yourself making sure you do not leave a drop behind. When it came time to order our entrees, we decided on the Hawaiian Fajitas and the Molcajete, which was one of the best things I have ever eaten. It could feed two people by itself and leave them satisfied.
You might wonder: What are the prices like? We were amazed to discover Anejo delivers such a rewarding experience with such high quality at a price working families can afford. Like you, we must make every dollar count, and it is easy to do so at Anejo. You will get great food and drink, excellent service, and a happy atmosphere that will have you looking forward to your next visit. So, give Anejo a try. Maybe we will see you there!
